History

1970

Judicial Commission (ICSB) initiates proposal of Minimal standards as task for subcommittees (Int J Syst Bacteriol 21, 102, 1971).
Subcommittees responsible for actinomycetes: 'Taxonomy of Actinomycetales', 'Taxonomy of Corynebacterium and coryneform bacteria', 'Nocardia and allied taxa' and 'Taxonomy of the mycobacteria'.

1990

Re-organization of subcommittees 'along phylogenetic lines' within the order Actinomycetales at ICSB meeting in Osaka.
Nine new subcommittees, inter alia:
No. 8 'Taxonomy of Arthrobacter and related taxa'. Chairman H. Prauser, Secretary G. Alderson.
No. 9 'Taxonomy of Microbacterium and related taxa'. Chairman Y. H. Park, Secretary H. Prauser.

1994

Approval of Minimal Standards for Arthrobacter, Microbacterium and related taxa by the joint meeting of subcommittees no. 8 and no. 9 at IUMS Congress in Prague.
Preliminary version published in Proceedings of 9th Symposium on the Biology of Actinomycetes (Biotekhnologija 7/8, 237-241, 1995); manuscript submitted to IJSB but rejected by peer reviewing.

1999

Merger of subcommittees no. 8 and no. 9 accepted by ICSB at IUMS congress in Sydney.

2000

Constitution of a new subcommittee (Interim Chairman P. Schumann). Proposal of the title 'Subcommittee on the taxonomy of the suborder Micrococcineae'.

2002

Inaugural meeting of the Subcommittee on the taxonomy of the suborder Micrococcineae at IUMS congress in Paris (Chairman P. Schumann, Secretary L. I. Evtushenko).

Discussion and approval in general of the prepared draft version of Minimal Standards for describing new genera and species of the suborder Micrococcineae at IUMS Congress in San Francisco.
